Authored by state Rep. Harold Dutton Jr., D-Houston, the bill would lower the penalty for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana to a Class C misdemeanor, carrying a penalty of no possible jail time and a fine not to exceed $500. Currently, possession charges of one ounce or less are classified as Class B misdemeanors, punishable by a prison term not to exceed 180 days and/or a fine of no more than $2,000.

This bill was recently passed 6-0! Who said Democrats and Republicans can't agree on anything.

Unfortunately, this has NOT passed.

The 79th legislature voted 6-0 to bring it to the house, where it never got to, or left the floor to goto the senate.

DO RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING FALSE INFORMATION AND GETTING PEOPLE"S HOPES UP.

79th legis 2oz or less did not pass HC PASSED calendars comm. but not to house floor.
